Duke Gregory's Reward

to the tune of "Scarborough Fair"

As told to Charric Van der Vliet by Ima N'telling Ewe at a bar called the "Sheep and Easy"

Chorus:

Duke Gregory of York was a Saxon man!

Really, No #$%&! There we were....

And Saxons will Bugger whatever they can-

But their favorite lay, it sounds just like, "b-a-a-a-a!"

The Duke had fought in a battling test

Really, No #$%&! There we were....

Then he went off, straight to his rest

We thought his reward, should be of the b-e-e-e-e-st!

So we chased that sheep all over the field

Really, No #$%&! There we were....

But to Normans and Celts she would not yield

I guess it takes a Saxon m-a-a-a-a-a-an!

The farmer came out, said, "What do ye there?"

Really, No #$%&! There we were....

So we told him of battles and Saxon proclivities...

He picked up that sheep and said, "Where's the Duke fare?"

We got to the tent, heard snoring sounds

Really, No #$%&! There we were....

We got the sheep in after several rounds

And left them in peace for the morning to come

We were wakened come dawn by an ear splitting din

Really, No #$%&! There we were....

It came from the tent we had put the sheep in

The Duke came out with but half his clothes on!

The sheep, it followed him out through the door...

Really, No #$%&! There we were....

The Duke's face was red and the girl's was more...

But one should not talk of what happens in b-e-e-e-e-e-ed!

Duke Gregory of York is a Saxon Man

Really, No #$%&! There we were....

And Saxons will bugger whatever they can....

But their favorite lay, it sounds just like.....b-a--aa-a-a-a--a-a-a! D-a-a-a-ddy! W-a-a--aait!

Balthazar's Revenge

The horse's name was Balthazar

Known to the Knowne Worlde near and far

For what he did to Duke de Savigny (seven-yee)

Balthazar hated clanking armor

But it was just the Duke's bad karma

This is a tale that was meant to be!

The Duke he rode 'im up the hill

But Balthazar took a nasty spill

And rolled upon the Duke in getting free

Now with his injury we claim

The Duke will surely come to fame

Known as the Duke of De Severed Knee!

Guy of Castle Kirk

Guy of Castle Kirk likes to stand to do his work

Of speaking to the crowd

It's not that he's humble, it's not that he's noble

He just like to be loud!

Chorus:

Guy, Sir Guy, You're our kind of guy!

You're really our kind of King!

So "Sweet Caid!" (on salted slugs we feed)

And of Caid we sing!

Ev'ry tourney he is there

Listening to the sounds

Of his people, dear to him

He knows no social bounds!

(Chorus)

Atenveldt did war again

(In AS 23)

With "Coach Guy" a-leading us,

We took the victory! (my wife gave him that whistle!)

(Chorus)

Who's that Guy a-coming round?

Bow down, though he's spurned it

We don't bow because he's King!

We bow because he's earned it!

(Chorus)

Duke Armand Is In The Van

Come and hear my simple rhyme

A Legend's walking out of time

In the mist the stories shine

Who'll be the first-to cross that line?

Chorus:

De Sevigny's his family clan

He was there when it all began

When they call for a fighting man

Duke Armand-is in the van!

Fighter practice, tuesday night

He steps out into the light

Dented armor, polished bright

He has come - tonight to fight!

(Chorus)

Comes the war with Atenveldt

He is there in his white belt

Many bruises he has dealt

To Norman King - And Common Celt

(Chorus)

Driving back home from the war

All this driving is a bore

Thrilled the family to the core

'Cause now the ceiling - is the floor!

(Chorus)

Brandy's Song

The language of love is cliche and old

The same old story repeatedly told

But for each lover, it's true and fresh and new

So it is now, with my love for you

I see each day in a whole new light

Drab and dusty everyday is new and bright

It's you who brought my heart to light, it's you who make it right

When we touch each other in the night

I just couldn't say enough of my love for you

I hope that my song will let my love shine through

Listen with your heart, my love, and soon you'll know it's true

The only one I'll ever love is you

Comfortable Love

My love and I have a comfortable love

A love that don't draw any line

When passion is gone, our love is still there

And I think our lovin' is fine

Don't talk to me of your high-flown romance

A love that can cuddle at rest

You can have all your fancy dress women around

I know that my love is best.

A comfortable love doesn't take any time

A comfortable love is now

A comfortable love doesn't take any ties

Needs nothing that you can't allow

Don't talk to me about workin' at love

For love is there or it's not

Don't offer me gold, it's nothing beside

The comfortable love that I've got

My love and I have a comfortable love

A love that will last through the years

A love that will last through the sorrows and joys

A love that knows laughter and tears

Love isn't owning another one's heart

It's sharing, together, a dream

So I'll keep a hold on my comfortable love

There's more here than it would seem

Marguerita-mobile

to the tune of "Marguerita-ville" by Jimmy Buffet

Out by the eric

It's Forlong and Charric

They're making a noise that can't be ignored

And though they're just filking

The crowd they are milking

For every farthing that they can afford!

Chorus:

And everyone is seeking Diane De Sevigny!

The Marguerita-mobile is here today!

Some people say, it's not the PERIOD way, but I know

That Creative's OK!

The blender is whirring

The drinks she is stirring

It's a sound that somehow doesn't fit in!

Some don't like to listen

But it's a tradition

It's the way Estrella always has been!

(Chorus)

Broke off my knee cop

The Marshall said to stop

Picked up my sword and limped off the field

I took off my armor

I guess it's bad karma

Now I want that Marguerita-mobile!

(Chorus)

The gentles are bowing

But they're not kow-towing!

Diana is making everybody dance!

The dance is so sprightly

They're moving so lightly

That all the Scotsmen wish they had worn pants!

(Chorus)

Mishwa

Two men guard the wall at the Estrella War

The Atens are coming, of them there are four

Oh, Mishwa, Oh, Mishwa! What shall we do?

The Atens are coming, and we are but two!

Mishwa steps forward and up on the wall

The sound of his battle cry frightens them all

They turn around and run away, the thin and the fat

Says one to the other, I'm not fightin' that!

Two men guard the wall and they're far from the gate

The Atens are coming, but now there are eight!

Oh, Mishwa, Oh, Mishwa! What shall we do?

The Atens are coming, and we are but two!

So Mishwa came back and he did it again

His screams worth a squad of ordinary men

But then said a knight who had stopped by to see,

"Attack them, you fools, for they are but three!"

Two men guard the wall and they're fate it is dire

For now comes the Atenveldt Army entire!

Oh, Mishwa, Oh, Mishwa! What shall we do?

The Atens are coming and we are but two!

So Mishwa stepped up and he said, "Make it three!"

"If screaming won't work, we will die gloriously!"

It didn't, and they did, falling under a pile

But under attack, Mishwa died with a smile!

OH!!!!!!!

Caid is safe, in the North and the South!

If they have the Armies, we have MISHWA'S MOUTH!

Glorious Love

Come the tourney for the Crown

Each has lain his gauntlet down

They all maintain, with might and main

They fight for Glorious Love

For a maiden fair

For a royal chair

With armored care

They weapons bear

In the list

By ladies kissed

They fight for glorious love

Isn't this a noble sight?

Men of Iron

Men of Might

Armor flashing in the light

They fight for glorious love

One alone will win the day

His the victory in the fray

Nothing's better than the way

They fight for glorious love!

Caid Battle Song

Hear my song both far and near

Caid men will feel no fear

Hear us coming, hear us sing

We will battle anything!

Chorus:

We're marching forth to go to war

And we know what we're fighting for

We're fighing men of good Caid

Defending honor where there's need - Might for right in Good Caid

Chivalry and Honesty

Men without them are not free

So hail the Crescent Moon above

And touch the favor of your lady love

(Chorus)

Raise the Crescent Banner high

Hear the horn, the battle's nigh

Time for glory, time to fight

We are men who see the light

(Chorus)

(and now the silly verses)

See our swords so shining bright

Watch the Atenvelder's flight

See our King in blue and white

Isn't he a pretty sight?

(Chorus)

What we do is quite insane

All this work for all this pain

See that artful Laurel there?

I hope she doesn't break her chair!

Kieth of Long Shore

Longshore, Longshore

You can't walk with me

For you gave your boots away

In Generosity

Keith, he gave his boots away

To someone who had need

Now he's walkin' barefoot

That was a noble deed!

Longshore, Longshore

You can't fight with me

For you gave your sword away

In Generosity

Keith, he gave his sword away

To Arm a fighting man

Now he isn't fighting,

But he does what he can

Longshore, Longshore,

You can't ride with me

For you gave your horse away

In Generosity

Keith, he gave his horse away

So someone else could ride

His largesse is very great

Though at home he must bide

Longshore, Longshore,

For honor you don't lack

The more of it you give to men

The more you get it back

Knightly times have come and gone

In all reality

But Chivalry? It still lives on,

In noblemen like thee!

Test of Honor

A knight rode off into the wood

Sworn to fight only for good

Chorus:

Testing lies within the heart

Each of us must do his part

Each of us must face his end

Each his honor must defend

A gauntlet thrown each age has known

A mortal fight to guard the right

(Chorus)

Raise your voice, let all men hear

Never let truth be hidden by fear

(Chorus)

The knight returns, his arms all bloody stains

None will ever know his glory or his pains

Good Patrick

Good Patrick, he fought well, and won to the Crown

For he fought with prowess the men of reknown

He picked up his sword and he ne'er laid it down

Until he had won him a Kingdom

Chorus:

Good Patrick, so furious fighting

Now what is that look in your eye?

What is the prize you are seeking?

Come now, and tell us all why?

He sought him for love and he sought it so long

He sought for a love that was just like a song

Now, some say that's right and, well, some say it's wrong

To find yourself, go find another!

(Chorus)

Good Patrick, he found him a lady so fair

A lady with flowing fine ebony hair

And Patrick for no other lady would care

Not since he had met Adriana

Among The Trees, So Green-O

Perching Falcon! Rampant Boar!

Shall we sing! We'll sing much more!

Even though our throats are sore!

Among the trees so green-o!

With a hey, down, ho, down, derry-derry down!

Among the trees so green-O!

Sing out now of fighting men!

Sing of hunts through dale and glen!

Where shall we sing? and what, and when?

Among the trees so green-o!

With a hey, down, ho, down, derry-derry down!

Among the trees so green-O!

Drinking mead or ale with spice!

Going back for re-fills twice!

Is there anything so nice?

Among the trees so green-o!

With a hey, down, ho, down, derry-derry down!

Among the trees so green-O!

Wooing wenches in the park!

Loving words, a laughing lark!

What will happen in the dark?

Among the trees so green-o!

With a hey, down, ho, down, derry-derry down!

Among the trees so green-O!

Groaning at the feasting board!

Much to full for shield and sword!

So much food we have adored!

Among the trees so green-o!

With a hey, down, ho, down, derry-derry down!

Among the trees so green-O!

Sing now of the ladies fair!

With which none can e'er compare!

Such a sight is all too rare!

Among the trees so green-o!

With a hey, down, ho, down, derry-derry down!

Among the trees so green-O!

A Pelican

A Pelican flew up to her babes, a-sleeping on the nest

Then because the hunt was poor, she tore at her own breast

She fed her young her own life's blood, Her Sacrifice was true

When you hear your Kingdom Call, can the same be said of you?

Chorus:

A Pelican does not seek reward,

A Pelican only gives

A Pelican works so very hard

To see the Dream still lives

A Pelican's working in the hall, or at the oven flames

While you're dancing at the ball, the scullery she claims

The Dream is shining here tonight, you feel it in your soul

But who did cook the feast ye ate, and cleaned your feasting bowl?

(Chorus)

When you enter to the Dream, remember and take note

Who did gather in the food, and who the menu wrote?

Who did move the heavy chair, or lift the heavy bale?

Who did practice for your joy, an entertaining tale?

(Chorus)

Gottfried of Nuremburg

The Landsknecht do walk out in step for the Crown

To one goes a lady, before him falls down

She holds him from marching, she begs him to stay

"My darling, my dearest! Oh, please come away!"

Chorus:

"Gottfried of Nuremburg, go not to war!

If the Emperor needs you, well, I need you more!"

Promises sweet in the islands you gave

'Tis that sweet Society now that I crave

Gottfried of Nuremburg, you're bound to die

Take off your weapons, by me you should lie!

(Chorus)

In a red-roofed pavilion with walls all of white

Made of the finest in silk and samite

You gave me a daggar made by your own hand

Go not to fight now in some foreign land!

(Chorus)

Gottfried said naught, simply stepping aside

The Landsknecht did walk out, but he did abide

For what kind of duty can stand 'gainst the heart?

Gottfried of Nuremburg, he did his part!

Gottfried of Nuremburg went not to war!

But stayed by his lady, she needed him more!

For A Lady

I sing now for a lady,

Her beauty and comeliness

I sing a song of joy for her

Pleasure and happiness

Chorus:

Sing now for the lady

Sing now for the child

Sing now for the woman

Who's loving and mild

Sing now for the one who is

Always within your mind

Sing now for the loving and

Living that you may find

(Chorus)

She walks the world in beauty

Her presence brings the world alight

Sing out all your pleasure, come

Sing out now with all your might!

(Chorus)

She holds your world together

Her laugh brings your own in turn

Bring her loving passion and

Feel hers begin to burn

(Chorus)

Loving is eternal and

So you should hold it fast

Living in a moment you

Seize it and make it last

A Curse of Time

A curse is lain on all mankind, a curse both fell and sure

A curse of time, and you will find that nothing will endure

Nothing a man may do can stop his final day

No matter what, no matter who, we all get old and gray

Chorus:

So live each moment to the full

Live, while yet you can!

Raging at the dark!

Raging at the dark!

Raging at the dying of the light!

No building a man may build, but in time is washed away

Everyone in time is killed, no matter what they say

It isn't fair, it isn't right, it's just the way it goes

And as for when you lose the fight, nobody really knows-

(Chorus)

"Vanity of vanities!" the wise man said, no matter what you do

Who shall bring you to see what comes? What's coming after you?

It's time, my friends, that's coming now, coming after you

You don't know when, you don't know how, or what end you're coming to-

Duke Steingrim's Lament

I'll sing you a tale and I swear that it's true

Of Duke Steingrim who's up in An Tir

And though he's done great, I guess it's his fate

That his listeners all run in fear!

Chorus:

Seven times charged the Atenveldt men!

And seven times broken their line!

I Steingrim myself, killed the Atenveldt King!

In those glorious days so fine!

There's none now can fight like those Champions of Old!

None like those Warriors Fair...

Aw....Shut Up, Steingrim, the An Tir Folk cry,

You know that we really don't care!

Duke Steingrim is known to Caid and the West

To Atenveldt down in the Sun

But when he tells his tale, in An Tir, without fail

All of the An Tir Folk run!

(Chorus)

A man's without honor within his own land

No matter that harder he tries

They just roll their eyes, and they say, it's all lies

And give 'em the back of the hand!

(Chorus)

So lone Steingrim doth roam in that wet An Tir place

Wishing a Skald, not a bard!

And everyone runs when he dares show his face!

It really is awfully hard!

Ivan the Illustrated

Ivan the Illustrated's going to war

A thousand behind him and a thousand before

He's got his armor and he's got his shield

And all Caid he's leadin' into the field

You're takin' the field, you're gonna fight!

Ivan the Illustrated's going to war

With a thousand behind him, and a thousand before!

Till he came at last to our Barony

He came to fight and he came to stay

A noble fighter of our noble way

Ivan, your vision is bringing us light

You're takin' the field, you're gonna fight!

Ivan the Illustrated sailed the sea

Till he came at last to our Barony!

Ivan the Illustrated, we all know

Of ships and women of a Celtic design

When he takes off his shirt, it's a noble sign!

Maggie's Waitin'

The battle is done, the victory won

The tide brings a freshening breeze

So take the ship out upon the waves

Across the foaming seas!

Chorus:

Heave round, heave round,

Raise a sail for home!

Maggie's waitin' beside the sea

And no more will I roam!

We cleared the sea of our enemy

With guns of crashing flame

In flying steel the decks ran red

And we gave back the same

(Chorus)

Many's the night I saw a star's light

And wished for a woman so fair

Many's the star I saw shining there

On the darkness of her hair

I love my Maggie more

Elizabethan clothes with a curly wig, a hat that's tiny with feather so BIG!

Chorus:

Giles has the perfect Laurel's touch! Giles, you're too much!

When it comes to authenticity, he dots the "I" and crosses the "T"...

Bowing low with a practiced swing, he sniffs his hanky and begins to sing!

(Chorus)

While other men fight he just sits by, givin' all the wimmen a practiced eye-

Sittin' in Court he'll watch and sew- some will wonder, but you should know, that
